Chasing the Treble week 12 - Repeat after me: "Scha-den-freude"

Today is one of those days where I have the rather unusual, but
occasional case of writer's block. I attribute it to two things: either
1) I'm preoccupied with work or 2) something great happened recently
that's worth celebrating with a toast of Westvleteren 12 in a Trappist
glass as a morning eye-opener. In this case, it's a matter of both. As

Believe it or not, we're at the halfway mark of the fantasy baseball
regular season. I don't know about you, but I'm constantly astounded
that such a 6-month marathon can go by in a blur. I thought I'd talk
about some observations with one half of fantasy baseball in the books,
but three things jump out at me most as I reflect on my midseason
review.

If you haven't lived in or visited Southern California, you're probably
not all too familiar with the term the natives throw around, called
"June Gloom", which is a morning weather pattern we have in these
parts, referring to the blanket of clouds and/or fog (called a marine
layer) that covers much of Southern California, primarily the beach

I don't have much in the way of any coherent baseball musings, but a few observations this week:

Thanks to WR setting up a fantasy soccer signup sheet over the weekend, I thought
I'd write a brief write-up on the league settings and scoring. A lot of this has yet to be determined, but here's a basic rundown, aimed primarily at those folks who haven't played fantasy soccer before.
Let's have it:

Happy Memorial Day to one and all. I'm sure most of you reading this
have the day off, as do I, and seeing how the grill beckons today,
there won't be any commentary for what seems like the umpteenth week in
a row now. Yours truly is still buzzing after Manchester United won the
Champions League last Wednesday (on penalty kicks, no less) to win the

Perhaps you might not have noticed, but this past week, WR has opened me the key to the door of the RotoDatabase site and I'm glad to say I'll be co-admin around these parts. I'm jumping on as a part-time developer on RotoDB on my leisure time. You're probably aware that WR has some projects ahead with some big ambitions in mind to squeeze the best features on this lovely site as much as possible so that this site isn't just simply the home of the H2H World Series, but also a fine niche fantasy sports site. The addition of the news feed aggregators is really a significant breakthrough to making this a true portal site. As far as how much time I'd devote here, as I've told WR in our recent chats, I'm frankly not sure given that I'm co-launching an Internet startup of my own within this month and am quarterbacking the initiative to roll out a slew of post-launch features within the next months. Given the nature of the business, it can be a 24/7 venture with new things popping up left and right, but every now and then, you'll see me working behind the scenes and helping WR out on the RotoDatabase site as much as I can. Stay tuned, a lot of great things coming around the horizon...

Understandably so, I'm a bit lazy to write an opening commentary to
this week's column as I'm caught up in the euphoria of Manchester
United winning their 17th English league title. You see, yesterday
wasn't only Mother's Day, but it was the last day of the English

Since the first draft day of the season up until now, in the back of my
mind, I've been pondering about H2H pitching strategy and the
replacement level of pitching/hitting. With so much reflection done on
these topics, I thought I'd jot down my musings in today's installment
about the value of starting pitching in H2H leagues (using the H2HWS
