Chatter: Operator, New York please

Operator: I'm sorry, who would you like to talk to?

Caller: MLB.com please, i got disconnected.

Operator: Please hold.

Operator: Sir, I show that number as busy. would you like me to try another number.

Caller: No, no. Its MLB.com, Instant Replay Customer Services, i got disconnected.

Operator: Okay, please hold.

Chatter: Not my Bud

I am not a Bud Black fan. He bores me. I miss Bruce Bochy. We should get that straight right now. Bochy, an ex catcher, had a presence about him. It's like that old commercial, when Bruce spoke, people really did listen.

I believe rightly or wrongly, that the solid Padre bullpens of the past few seasons was Bochy's doing, and not Kevin Towers doing, even though Towers gets all the credit.

Chatter: will work for food

It's tough times financially for a lot of folks, not just in the states, but world wide. Lots of people are looking for work, or will be soon. I always say it is never too early to get a leg up on the competition, ya know. See what is out there type of thing. Sometimes the grass is truly greener on the other side.

Chatter: Dirtyball

I am still dinking around with the format for these Chatters, I haven't really come up with anything I really like yet, but this is close. One thing about my chatters, is there will be a daily dose of Padres, there is no escaping that, sorry.

Chatter; more than one way to watch a ballgame.

As you may or may not have noticed by now, I am not the worlds most consistent blogger. I don't even consider myself to be a blogger to be quite honest.

But in the past I have tried to link everyone to the different things that i come across on a daily basis, through my "Chatters"

Wolf's Audition Goes Poorly

Randy Wolf and Greg Maddux are back end of the rotation starters in San Diego. I don't know what people think they are getting in trading for Maddux and Wolf. Cy Young is not available people. I guess I can understand Maddux, his big name and all, one last time, on a big stage somewhere, but he is still a back of the roation guy. He is like 62 years old or something.

Randy Wolf would be a back end of the rotation starter for pretty much every team in baseball. Not just the contenders. Sheesh.

Typically modest, typically Maddux

Great read here from ESPN the Mag on Greg Maddux, who today notched his 379th win ..

5 ip, 63 pitches, 0 er,

we are not worthy

He is not flashy, he just has that steady workman's like attitude about him. He is not going to mow anybody down in the batters box. He can still go almost a month without walking a batter though. Last season, he went from August 3rd till September 13th, 9 starts, without walking a single batter.

Maddux is retiring.

wow. This piece out of the Daily Herald makes it seem like this is certainly Greg Maddux's last season ...
