Clone Wars: Jacoby Ellsbury and Juan Pierre

read the whole thing. its a solid break down of the two ..

.. being compared to Pierre doesn't make Ellsbury a bad fantasy option, but it certainly won't help him with the Red Sox. They are almost the same player, with a slight boost in SLG (about 30 points) for Ellsbury. Pierre's value will continue to fluctuate with his playing time, and his situation in Los Angeles, where he is behind both Ramirez and Andre Ethier, doesn't look good for now. Ellsbury has a firm grip on a starting gig, and is on pace for 60 steals this year, and should provide solid fantasy value going forward. If he could ever gain a few points in his walk rate he could head back to the top of the order and be an elite lead off man, but for now he's relegated to Pierre comparisons.

Pierre will be back on bench

Despite all he has done, a spot on the bench still is in Juan Pierre's near future. Manager Joe Torre confirmed Tuesday when Manny Ramirez returns from his 50-game suspension early next month, he plans to sit one of the team's hottest hitters.

Pierre entered Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres batting .360 with 21 RBIs. Since Ramirez went to the sideline May 7 he has bated .362 with 10 doubles, 18 RBIs, 23 runs, 12 walks and 12 steals. The Dodgers were 18-12 over that stretch.

"Yeah, I really didn't consider any other option," Torre said.

Colletti looking to deal

With the free agent market firing up this morning, LA Dodgers GM Ned Colletti expresses his concerns over Center field, the starting rotation, and Third base.

Jaun Pierre and his cannon for an arm, is expected to move to left field opening up Center for a free agent.
To fill the rotation, he appears to be looking at a trade, much like every other General Manager in the game. The free agent market for starting pitchers is pretty ugly this winter.
