Miguel Cabrera hits the gym
Hey look at that. Somebody got Miguel Cabrera into a gym! According to Ozzie Guillen, Cabrera has dropped fifteen pounds in two months.
source: Los Angeles Times Cabrera, one of the hottest commodities on the trading floor of baseball's winter meetings, is making a significant effort to address those issues, having recently begun a rigorous winter workout and nutritional program in Davie, Fla.
"He looks good," said Angels catcher Mike Napoli, who has been training with Cabrera for the last three weeks. "He's starting to slim down, and he's getting real strong."
Chicago White Sox Manager Ozzie Guillen, whose team is also pursuing the slugger, saw Cabrera in Miami on Sunday and said the 24-year-old "has lost about 15 pounds, maybe a little bit more. If you see Miguel Cabrera now, you will be surprised."
More Miggy Cabrera Rumors
Says one National League scout of Cabrera: "He is one of the most pure hitters available and a difference-maker. He is like Tony Perez, with his ability to use the whole field. He has one of the best righthanded swings I have ever seen."
And there's the matter of salary. Cabrera is expected to top $10 million in arbitration this year and could reach $15 million in 2009

Marlins Shopping Cabrera
Well you knew it would happen one day. This scribe here goes into quite some detail suggesting the Florida Marlins are actually going to make a run for A Rod. I cannot see that happening, but I can certainly see them dangling Miguel Cabrera for more pitching. No doubt some GM will give the Fish quite the haul for his services.
