Starting Pitching can wait…unless it's Johan

As a follow up to Brendan's pieces on starting pitching, I’d like to plead my case for Johan Santana as well as follow up on my team in the same draft.

Alex Rodriguez's bat propelled the New York Yankees into the playoffs, and Alex is about to be amply rewarded for it. Rodriguez batted .314, scored 143 runs, belted 54 home runs and had a career-high 156 runs batted in, and now can add a third Most Valuable Player award to his mantle.

Nothing would surprise me more than to see the Boston Red Sox make an offer to A Rod. I hope it doesn't happen, but I think it was their plan all along. Let Mike Lowell leave, and then pursue A Rod.

I just ran across this list of Scott Boras 2008 free agents, and couldn't help but think that maybe Scott Boras himself will be buying an MLB team next winter. This commission checks alone could net him a small island. MLB is the next step up, right?
