Chad Cordero

Ryan Wagner was the 14th overall player taken in the 2003 first year players draft, and of course, Chad Cordero was the 20th player taken in the same draft. Both are now looking for new gigs.

Closers may be the most intriguing breed of baseball players. They are highly debated, analyzed, ridiculed, and speculated on. Their biggest contribution to a fantasy lineup (Saves), they have little control over. They warm up, get ready to pitch, and when their offense scores a run to put their team up 4, they sit down and go back to spitting seeds while a guy, possibly just as capable, making a fraction of what the closer makes, trots out for the 9th inning. If you tried to describe fully, the modern MLB closer to somebody who had never heard of the concept, they'd look at you like you were crazy.

This sounds like it is just a temporary roster decision to me. Just to get another arm in for the weekend series. Jon Rauch will continue to fill in for Cordero obviously.

As a Jon Rauch owner in a few leagues, I hope Cordero takes his sweet time healing.

I am constantly seeing 'Players You Must Have in '08', 'Deep Sleepers in '08', 'Late Round '08 Steals', etc., etc., etc.

CHICAGO WHITE SOX: Agreed to terms with first baseman Brad Eldred, infielder Royce Huffman, infielder Jeff Liefer, infielder Michael Rouse, catcher Paul Phillips, catcher Ryan Smith, infielder Jason Bourgeois, outfielder Miguel Negron and pitcher D.J. Carrasco on minor league contracts.

Closer Chad Cordero and the Washington Nationals agreed to a $6.2 million, one-year contract Friday that avoided arbitration.

The right-hander gets a raise from the $4.15 million he earned last season after going through arbitration
