A's acquire Matt Holliday

Wow .. Who saw this one coming?

Do the Oakland A's really think that they are going to compete with the Angels in 2009? They shipped off their entire pitching staff, and a year later, the team owner increases payroll, and says "I want to compete" .. what a fool.

SI.com Oakland A's acquired Holliday from the Colorado Rockies

The A's have acquired star outfielder Matt Holiday from the Colorado Rockies, SI.com has learned. It isn't known yet which players will be sent to Oakland in the surprise deal. Holliday will have a physical on Tuesday. Rockies general manager Dan O'Dowd called Holliday on Monday to give him the news.

Chatter: Not my Bud

I am not a Bud Black fan. He bores me. I miss Bruce Bochy. We should get that straight right now. Bochy, an ex catcher, had a presence about him. It's like that old commercial, when Bruce spoke, people really did listen.

I believe rightly or wrongly, that the solid Padre bullpens of the past few seasons was Bochy's doing, and not Kevin Towers doing, even though Towers gets all the credit.

Chatter; more than one way to watch a ballgame.

As you may or may not have noticed by now, I am not the worlds most consistent blogger. I don't even consider myself to be a blogger to be quite honest.

But in the past I have tried to link everyone to the different things that i come across on a daily basis, through my "Chatters"

Could Holliday be on trade block?

Good. Get him out of the NL West.

The Rockies have indicated they are looking at something in the five-year, $90 million range, but Boras has sent out feelers that he is looking for something closer to the eight-year, $153 million deal Miguel Cabrera received this spring from Detroit.

Teixeira [boras guy] turned down an eight-year, $140 million offer from Texas before he was dealt last summer.

The Artful Dodger's 2008 Bold Predictions

It's about this time each year where I say Christmas has come early (or late, if you've waited 90+ days for your Aunt Hortense to fork up your $100 gift). As I write this, I'll be juggling my attention span across two television screens: WrestleMania 24 and the first MLB Opener on U.S.

Don't Misremember 2007

A few random, scatterbrained notes about last season, you may or may not have known...

...Brad Lidge recorded 19 Saves from July 17th until the end of he season...

...Ryan Braun bat .450 in 111 AB against Left-Handed Pitchers...

...Despite Coors Field playing more neutral, Matt Holliday hit 25 HR in 327 Home AB, and just 11 HR in 309 Road AB...

Rollins wins MVP

Jimmy Rollins can finally breathe a sigh of relief. The Gold Glove shortstop and Silver Slugger winner was named the National League Most Valuable Player this afternoon, giving the Philadelphia Phillies the NL MVP in consecutive seasons.
