Tejada collected his 2,000th major league hit with an RBI single through the left side in the sixth inning, tying the score at 1 against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Tejada, only the 29th shortstop to collect 2,000 hits, drove in Michael Bourn, who led off the inning with a stand-up triple to right.
One out later, Berkman hit a shot to right for the 300th home run of his career, giving the Astros a 3-1 lead with the two-run shot. Berkman is only the seventh switch-hitter all-time to collect 300 home runs in the majors. The shot was estimated at 399 feet.

Tejada expected to plead guilty
Weeeeee ... Just in time for Bud Selig's new television network, yet another steroid controversy. Are we having fun yet?
If not, the seven year old Barry Bonds steroids trial should be in full swing within in a month or two, and hey, if that is not enough steroids lynhcing for your liking, the Roger Clemmens trial is .... "Coming Soon". Baseball seems hell bent on making one last dime off these guys. Before it was gate receipts, now its television ad revenue.
Aren't you glad your commissioner swept this whole dirty affair under the rug for good, with his Blue Ribbon Mitchell report?
Thanks Bud

The World Baseball Classic and You
The World Baseball Classic (WBC) is an International baseball tournament that is scheduled to run from March 5th through March 23rd. 2009 marks the second Classic, with the first having taken place in March of 2006. It is different from other International baseball tournaments and competitions, in that it allows Major League players from both North and Central America and Japan to compete, unlike the Summer Olympics and Baseball World Cup, which has always limited participation to members of the amateur ranks. There is a wide variety of opinion regarding the event, ranging from absolute adoration and comparison to soccer's famed World Cup, to complete disgust with the event as a whole. I know what you're saying, "Dude, why do I care?"
Well, aside from a large handfull of players being absent from their Spring Training with their Major League teams, and the potential ramifications on that front, try this on for size...
The 2006 United States WBC roster featured Jake Peavy, Dontrelle Willis, Al Leiter, Roger Clemens, Todd Jones, Brian Fuentes, Joe Nathan, Huston Street, Brad Lidge, Chad Cordero, Scot Shields, Mike Timlin, and Gary Majewski, making up its pitching staff.

Last year I blogged about Michael Bourn entitled 'The Bourn(e) Identity'. I said he was one injury away from being the most added player in Yahoo! Here we are, a year later, a year wiser, ready to talk about the 25 year old speed demon who now calls Houston home.
