Zimmerman, like Big Papi, may be toast for the season also. Sure, Zimmerman may play again this season, but Zimm is toast for the '08 season in my book. I wouldn't go near him now, or when he returns.
Small tears of the labrum can be treated conservatively, but usually leave the patient/player with some form of discomfort or functional limitation - though not always on a consistent basis. Larger tears require surgery to reattach/anchor the cartilage to the Glenoid (socket). The ability of the Labrum to heal is poor due to lack of vascular supply.
