Paging Dr Watkins ..
I never really bought into all the hype surrounding Josh Willingham. It was short run too, the hype, but now he is a 29 year old outfielder facing possible back surgery. His 2008 campaign may be done.
Bad backs and swinging bats, do not go together like peanut butter and chocolate, if you know what I mean. So, I think it is safe to say, if for some sad reason you are still hanging on to Josh Willingham .. .
you can let go ...
just let it go.
"He's the Dr. James Andrews of backs," Willingham said Tuesday. "He told me it was a herniated disc, which is the same problem I have had. But I felt better seeing him."
Willingham said Watkins told him his back needs to be strengthened, and it will be 10 days to three weeks before he can resume baseball activity. A three-week layoff would likely mean it would be at least mid-June before Willingham rejoined the lineup.
