It was Jon Lester’s first major league complete game, a whopping 130 pitch outing. He gave up 2 walks, and had 9 strikeouts.
Jason Varitek has now caught four no hitters, all with Boston of course, and he is apparently the first catcher since 1900 to do so.
The 24-year-old lefty shut down Kansas City 7-0 Monday night for the first no-hitter in the majors since Red Sox rookie Clay Buchholz threw one last September.
Lester (3-2) allowed just two baserunners, walking Billy Butler in the second inning and Esteban German to open the ninth; he also had an error when he threw away a pickoff attempt.

A local radio host asked a question today that I thought was interesting; does catching four no hitters help your hall of fame chances? Obvioulsy if you did nothing else, but catch 4 no-no'd I don't think it does, but does it help a guy like Vartiek?
i don't think Varitek is HOF worthy. the four no hitters might weigh on the mind of one or two voters when it comes time for that stuff, sure, but i don't think he is going to get in.
