4th of July, with fireworks and family fun for all, is not sold out. But Manny Ramirez's return to baseball is.
Won't somebody please. Please! .. think of the children.

The San Diego Padres today announced that the Friday, July 3, 7:05 p.m. PDT game versus the Los Angeles Dodgers at PETCO Park is officially sold out. Fewer than 8,000 tickets remain for the game on Saturday, July 4, a 1:10 p.m. PT start. Tickets are also available for the homestand finale, Sunday, July 5, when the Padres and Dodgers are set to play at 1:05 p.m.

"We are pleased to announce our third sellout this season," said Padres President and COO Tom Garfinkel. "The entire weekend series will be a great opportunity to celebrate and honor America through our national pastime."

The 50-game suspension of Manny Ramirez ended on the day the Dodgers became the first team to win 50 games this season -- and with the Dodgers' top standing in the National League, little changed from the day he was banned.

After squeaking past the Colorado Rockies, 1-0, at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday, the Dodgers finished with a record of 29-21 during Ramirez's absence and are now 50-29.

Scott Ostler. There you go .. I knew he would be worried about the children .. Thank you Scott.

I'm not being critical. I'm not so heartless that I would come down on a man who has been dealing with the anguish of an unplanned pregnancy. Ramirez didn't talk to the media during his whirlwind tour of the bushes. He said to one group of reporters hoping to interview him, "No thank you. Go to YouTube."

YouTube? Maybe on YouTube there's a video of Ramirez saying he's sorry for cheating, compromising his team, setting a bad example for kids and copping out with a lame excuse.
