Beltran doesn't need surgery

If you own Beltran, I'd sell high on this news .. just act like everything is fine.

"The diagnosis pretty much concurred with what we heard from our guys, which was a bruise in the knee, and the recommendation is that he rest that knee until it's pain-free and then he can proceed from there," Mets assistant general manager John Ricco said. "He's going to have a few days here of inactivity and be re-evaluated by our guys."

Ricco said both sets of doctors agreed that no surgery is needed, and rest should be enough to heal the knee. Although Ricco said there is no exact timetable for Beltran's return, he said any return most likely wouldn't happen until after the All-Star break.
