Sometimes I really hate H2H! This was one of those suck-tacular weeks where I went from having a lead in a close game on Saturday, only to be blown away by a lights-out Sunday from my opponent! Not good...

| Muenster Blue Jays | 33 | 9 | 36 | 11 | .339 | 1.002 | 4 | 2 | 50 | 1 | 5.70 | 1.68 | 9 |
At the start of Sunday's games, the Knights were 6-5 up in what had been a close encounter all week long. A few hours later, that had all changed, as Muenster came from behind to take Runs, HR, Ks and break the tie in Wins. 2 HR from Albert Pujols was a key factor, along with an OPS over 1.000, and a couple of spot-start pitchers who went far enough to take victories in their games. Any good news for the Knights? Only that, having traded Gallardo earlier in the week, the stats from his Sunday start would have made no difference whatsoever...

A fine win for the cellar-dwelling 5lyers moved them out of 14th spot. Hitting was paramount, as they swept all 6 categories thanks to great weeks from Derrek Lee, Tulo, BJ Upton & Kinsler. Belem had Beckett & Pettitte to thank as they just squeaked out a win in ERA, to take 4 out of 6 pitching cats.

No, your eyes are not deceiving you - Norwich did actually lose this week! Psydney take the honours of being the first team to beat them, even if it was by the narrowest of margins. 11 points of OPS was all the difference between a win for either team; perhaps Psydney's hero was Michael Bourn, who posted an unlikely OPS of 1.209 for the week.

| Helsinki Hitters | 23 | 4 | 25 | 3 | .245 | .679 | 9 | 1 | 51 | 0 | 3.54 | 1.18 | 5 |
A top-of-the-table clash went the way of the Needle, by the narrow score of 7-5. Hitting was what won it for them, although the overall scores weren't that impressive for either team. Mark DeRosa was the only hitter on either team to hit more than 1 HR for the week (he got 2!) Helsinki's pitchers were lights out, posting an incredible 9 wins between them (4 coming out of the bullpen). They may wish those guys had picked up some saves or holds instead...

Another tough week for LA saw them beaten by Stockstadt; again, it was the hitting which let them down, on the whole. Jayson Werth perhaps typifies their plight - he hit 3 HR for the week, with 7 RBI...but at an average of only .200. And so Stockstadt took Runs & RBI narrowly; 6 of their team hit 2 HR in the week, whilst pitching categories were split 3-3.

| San Jose Athletics | 28 | 11 | 38 | 5 | .265 | .849 | 3 | 2 | 31 | 5 | 3.62 | 1.27 | 6 |
A big win for either of these teams would have moved them a lot closer to the top 6; the 6-6 tie moves them both a little closer, but I imagine both may be wondering what might have been as they look at the table. Missouri put up an excellent AVG & OPS, but ended up losing HR & RBI as San Jose had a nice week from Ryan Braun, amongst others. The Athletics also owe a debt of thanks to Michael Wuertz, whose 2 wins out of the bullpen was a huge difference-maker. The River Jacks were pleased to welcome back Valverde with 3 saves.

| New Hampshire Goats | 30 | 5 | 18 | 4 | .269 | .746 | 0 | 2 | 37 | 5 | 9.82 | 2.16 | 2 |
A comprehensive win for Ealing moved them up a few spots in the standings, and dumped the Goats to the bottom. How they won RBIs with only 19 for the week is a mystery - high scorer was Brandon Inge with 6! But their pitching was outstanding, as they lost only holds, putting up fine ratios to go along with the wins, saves & Ks. Pretty much every one of New Hampshire's starters got rocked this week; Joba Chamberlain was the only one with an ERA under 9.50!

Norwich's lead at the top gets cut slightly, but they are still comfortable. Muenster jump up into 3rd place after their win over London, who, after a very good start, are in danger of slipping out of the top 6. A fair bit of re-shuffling took place in the bottom half, with Ealing the big winners as they climbed from 13th to 10th.

1st vs 3rd & 2nd vs 5th are the highlights of this week. Can Muenster repeat their 1000+ OPS of week 11 against the leaders? Will Norwich suffer 2 defeats in a row? Can last year's finalists reverse their recent downward trends? Can Ealing build on their double-digit victory, or will Belem stop their recovery before it gets going? All these questions & more will be answered in 7 days time...

when your team hits .216/.687 for the week, you shouldn't win.
It's just **** frustrating to lose Runs & HR on the last day!
I think The combo of Chris Davis, Jason Varitek and J.J. Hardy AVG.-Killer to much to carry around.
The deal for Pedroia and the new Cather will help you out a lot.
Yeah, I picked Varitek up during his hot streak, but he had to go this weekend. Maybe Yadier will be better.
As for Davis, I may well have been too patient with him, because of the power potential he has. Plus there's the worry that I will drop him just before the hot streak starts! But I've been waiting & waiting for it to happen, and I have to say he's in imminent danger of hitting the wire.
Be interesting to know if any other teams in the H2HWS who drafted Davis are still holding onto him or if he's been dumped.
i haven't seen him hit the wire in any of my leagues.
There's a lot of patient / foolhardy / deluded owners out there (delete as applicable)!
I am still hanging on to Atkins in a league or two. No way he fell this hard, this fast.
Well i dont have Davis in any leauge but at least he gives you the homers this year. But J. J. Hardy... is your nightmare in my eyes.
You took a pitcher in the 2nd round and a closer in the 6th round. In my opinion, that leaves you no option but to stay patient with the 3B-man Davis for whom you kind of reached with your 4.th round pick.
But you are still in the playoff spots without a 1/3 of your team hitting. Not too bad, i would say.
I could give you Magglio for Davis, in the mood for gambling? Which 4th round pick recovers first ? ;-)
I think taking Johan in Rd 2 has turned out to be a cause of my problems this year. I never take pitching there, but he seemed too good a bargain to pass up. (That said, if I hadn't taken him, I would probably have drafted Holliday, who hasn't been exactly brilliant this season).
Davis was a reach (Rd 5, not 4
), but I believed the pre-season hype that so many people had built up over him. Again, though, retrospect is all very well - there was at least one comment made during the draft when I took him that another manager wanted him that round.
Hardy's another one who's been a huge disappointment - I expected the odd cold streak...but not one that lasts three months! Still, at least I managed to get Zobrist at the right time.
And yes, as you say, somehow I am still in the playoffs with all these problems!!
I'm happy to trade my 4th round pick too - Brandon Webb.
there have been some huge early round busts this year, haven't there? For one reason or another
How sweet would it be to see a playoff sans the Knights and Thrashers?
Ray's having more DL troubles - first Peavy, now Beltran. Two of his first 4 picks on the DL - not good...

Yeah, so what's your excuse?
What else should a Met fan do?
To the tune of "This is How It Feels to be City"
This is how it feels to be the Mets,
this is how it feels to be on the DL,
this is how it feels when your team wins nothing at all,
nothing at all,
nothing at all!
or
This is how it feels to be the Mets,

this is how it feels when your team falls apart in the Fall,
apart in the Fall,
apart in the Fall!
