Spot * On Picks | 6.4 (Thu) Dos Mas Por Favor

While my pick of David may look suspect yesterday, I'd just like to reiterate that there was a flyball hit to left field that hit Nolan Reimold in the glove that they ruled a double for Seattle (thanks Safeco official scorer!), causing 2 Earned Runs to be charged to Dave that shouldn't have. He wasn't spectacular otherwise, but he certainly wasn't as bad as his numbers indicate.

Ross Detwiler (L), WSH (6% Owned) vs Matt Cain (R), SF
San Francisco is currently rocking the 29th ranked OPS (.687) in all of Major League Baseball, which includes a .690 vs LHP, and league worst .620 outside of San Francisco. It takes pretty major cajones to take a Nationals starter, yet here I am for the second consecutive day, nutting up with one of the boys from our nation's capital. Vegas has some major wood for this start as well, having Detwiler as a toss up pick against studly Matt Cain, with -120 juice on Under 8.5 Total Runs. Daddy likey.

Brian Tallet (L), TOR (16% Owned) vs John Lackey (R), LAA
After he burned me way back on April 29th, Brian Tallet has reconciled himself with me over the last month, and I call on him again tomorrow to right the wrongs he hath done to my Spot * On ratios. He's working on 6, that's right six consecutive Quality Starts, and I expect another tomorrow against the Angels, who are right around league average in almost every standard split available. Vegas has Tallet as a -115 favorite, with -125 juice on Under 9 Total Runs, so if you're afraid of Detwiler and his lack of run support or potential for blowup, go with the guy going off a half dozen Quality Starts in a row...

Starting to get back in a groove now. Feeling the flow. Let's keep this train rollin'.

Until tomorrow...

With the rain delay in Washington, starters might get flipped around, so I would exercise caution on Detwiler at this point. If we're sure he'll be the starter, he's a good play (as is Zimmermann if he end up with the start tomorrow instead of today).

For standard leagues, Scott Baker has dipped under 50% owned and should be snatched up by any pitchiing starved teams. He get a home start against Cleveland tomorrow.

Mike Pelfrey (39%) is my pick for best standard-league spot starter tomorrow. He gets pushed back after missing today's start due to postponement and has had a great month, with a 1.07 WHIP in 34.2 IP. He's basically Tallet without the high K number. He gets the Pirates in Pittsburgh.
