UK North Week 18
Paul (Leicester Tigers) is on holiday this week, so I’m in charge! I’ve taken the liberty of copying Chris’s template for reports…
A tight week in most match-ups means the league is still very close. Every team down to ninth has a very real chance of the playoffs, and even the slumping Nightwizards and MK Magic could still make it perhaps with a strong final few weeks.
Results
- Norwich No 10-2 Norwich Nightwizards
- Birminghams Raven 6-4 Redditch Redskins
- South Shields Yankee 4-5 Leicester
- Tigers
Rainow Ravens 6-5 Birmingham Redbirds - MK Magic 9-3 Earlham Ewoks
- Sheffield Rox 4-7 Northampton Squirels
- Edinburgh Dukes 4-6 Darlington Dice K’s

Significant Moves
No trades this week. Among the free agents finding new homes: Renteria (Leicester), Huff (Rainow), Lind (Darlington), Isringhausen (Rainow), Kershaw (Norwich No), Garrett Anderson and Jurrjens (South Shields).
Waffle
The big move this week was my Norwich No’s 10-2 thrashing of my fellow Norwich compatriot, Nightwizards. Fielder and Utley combined for 8HR, 13R and 12RBIs, while Hamilton chipped in with a couple of homers, 8 runs and (only) 3 RBIs. All batted better than .350 for the week. For the NightWizards only a rare steal from Swisher avoided a sweep in the batting categories, despite Dunn’s 3HR.
My pitching, for a change, was solid with 4 saves from Soria leading an easy win in that category. With Liriano (on the bench yesterday) back in the rotation suddenly my starting pitching looks a little more solid too.
Hopefully Kershaw can have a Lincecum-like second half to back up Kazmir. Three wins from the Nightwizards staff avoided the sweep in pitching for the No.
That win allowed me to jump from seventh, after last week’s disaster against the Tigers, back up to 4th, just 5 games out of the lead held by South Shields Yankee, who are just a half game ahead of my next opponent, the Redditch Redskins.
Both the top 2 suffered narrow defeats this week to two other playoff spot teams. SSY at the hands of the Tigers (5-4-3), Redditch to the surprising Birminghams Raven (6-4-2).
The Squirels closed the gap on the playoffs by beating current sixth place team Sheffield 7-4, as did the Dice K’s by beating Edinburgh.
This week sees only one match up between playoff teams, my battle with Redditch, so there is a good chance for non-playoff teams to close the gap, or vice versa perhaps.

Not sure how to do the formatting for the tables / results!!
wr, Chris, AD...feel free to edit / help!!
I don't have editorial powers, but this is what I do with my posts:
For the results, I don't cut & paste - I simply type them out again, highlight them all, and then click on the bulletpoint tab. For some reason, cutting & pasting makes it look messy - I'm sure there's a way to tidy it up, but I haven't tried too hard to find it!
As for the standings, I do cut and paste those in, then I click on the Preview Comment button. This then shows me the table in the posting window (ie: where I am typing now), but in a way where I can edit the table easily. Then I just delete everything in the 'Moves' column, and edit the Waiver column to be the 'Position Change' column. It only takes a couple of minutes, and it looks neat & tidy when it's done!
fixed
If I do it again I'll know what to do!
did you copy and paste directly from another source?. not sure why it does that. if you just post the standings table itself, usually everything shows up just fine. i generally go thrugh each one as I am collecting the numbers and make minor corrections anyways.
no stresses.
I appreciate the help
Yes, I copied from Word. I guess that was why.
On a separate note I can't believe I'm 8-1 down after two days this week with a batting line of 12 runs, 4HR, 13RBIs, 0SB, .340 / 1.061 OPS, and an opponent pitching line of 0 wins, 0 saves, 19Ks, 1 hold, 7.61 ERA, 1.82 WHIP!!!
Yes, my pitching has sucked, thanks Scott Baker...or should I say thanks Raul Ibanez....he has almost singlehandedly wrecked by pitching, and helped overcome my decent hitting start...!!
Here's to a comeback in some of those categories, and no more hits from bloody Ibanez!!
