In my keeper league, I had Chris Davis in my minor league system and traded him away this spring for Justin Morneau, figuring Davis was a year, maybe two away. I knew who he was, let's just say.
When Chris Davis got called up by the Texas Rangers, I figured it was for a week maybe two at most, since the all star break was fast approaching, and Hank Blalock was due back any day now (yeah right).
So yeah, I am kicking myself for not acting sooner. I didn't get Davis on any of my rosters, and I had advance notice/knowledge of who he was.
He has great power, but an ISO of .414 is not maintainable and his HR/FB is 31.8%. The best right now in the majors is Ryan Howard at 32.6%. I don't think he will be that good but Adam Dunn and Jack Cust are at 29% and 26.9% respectively. His K% is actually below these guys, but it's not great either.
His BABIP currently stands at .209, but that is mainly due to the low at bat totals and how many times he K's and homers there is a small sample size of batted balls.
Looking in his minor league advanced stats he looks like his K% and BB% that he is performing about on normal. His OBP has been higher and should raise along with his average when his BABIP returns to normal.
In keeper leagues he shouldn't be moved, but in redraft leagues he is worth more than I have seen him go for in CBS league trades. Don't move him for anything less than what you would trade a 30-40 homer type first baseman.

I have Davis in 3 of my leagues; one of them is a dynasty. I'm currently not shopping him in the redrafts just because I doubt there will be any strong takers but I could package him up for something. Safe to say, in my dynasty, I'm not trading him but that's only because I don't have to start him usually, which gives me a war chest to trade with.
