Davis was my first round pick, pick 14 in H2H Hoops.

I dont' need this

All star game

here is a league that would be fun. the top 18 teams of all time, competing in an allstar game ..

Last Minute Decisions week 8

A collection of scribes to help you set your week two roster. If there is somebody you like to read regularly, let me know, and we will be sure to link to them. I will probably pare this list down a bit as the season goes on, in an attempt to just keep the best sources of information. Hope it helps.

H2H Hoops, USA week 1

Just a quick breakdown of week one, for the first annual H2H Hoops USA Tournament.

Yeah ..Undecided

Phoenix may never do anything for the rest of their time here, but for this one little moment in time, they were the best!

H2Hoops International - Week 1

The results after weeek 1, hopefully this is not an indication of how the season will go for the visiting coyotes

Will Peavy survive the winter meetings

I'll say yes, but he doesn't make it past Christmas.

the pundits

SDUnion Tribune In Peavy trade offers, quality is number one criteria for Towers

Towers said several clubs have shown interest in Peavy, He added that he is “focused on three” clubs that Peavy has said he might favor. Towers declined to identify the three but said that “if any is willing to step up, there's a deal there.”

Sox won’t pursue many of their own free agents

BostonHerald.com Meeting of the GM minds

The club’s free agents - The chief priority will be to talk with agent Scott Boras about catcher Jason Varitek [stats]. Before Epstein leaves Thursday morning, he should have a pretty good idea about Varitek’s contractual demands. If Boras indicates that Varitek is looking for something longer than a two-year deal, the Sox will begin looking at other options.

The Sox won’t pursue many of their own free agents, including veteran pitchers Mike Timlin [stats] and Bartolo Colon, and first baseman Sean Casey. Outfielder/first baseman Mark Kotsay, a late-season acquisition, would be welcomed back but will probably go elsewhere for a chance to play more.

Orton could miss a month

Not a good year for quarterbacks ..

FOX Sports Blogs John Halpin's Fantasy Sports Blog

Just when he had turned into a solid fantasy starter, Bears QB Kyle Orton might miss a month due to the high ankle sprain he suffered Sunday against the Lions. Orton will have an MRI today, and in his absence the Bears will turn to the Jekyll-and-Hyde Rex Grossman, who was shaky in relief of Orton on Sunday. Up next for King Rex: The Titans at home, followed by the Packers at Lambeau. Uh-oh.

Mike Maddux is joining the Rangers

Man everybody is bailing on the Brewers. Jack Z, probably all his crew, and now Mike Maddux? I'd say it's karma for firing the manager with a few weeks to go. The Brewers had their shot, and they blew it.

Now they can go back to being NL doormats for the next 15 years. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight! Schlemiel! Schlimazel! Hasenpfeffer Incorporated!!

MLB.com Sources: Maddux new pitching coach

Mike Maddux is joining the Rangers as their pitching coach, according to Major League sources. An announcement is expected at some point this week.

Maddux, who has spent the past five seasons as the Brewers' pitching coach, was interviewed by the Rangers this weekend and is expected to be hired. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Maddux told the Brewers that he was leaving to join the Rangers.

Nationals targeting Dunn

Jim Bowden targeting Adam Dunn, imagine that. I could totally envision Jim Bowden handing out a big fat check for five years of Adam Dunn's services. Heck, Bowden drafted Dunn in the 2nd round in 98.

Dunn and Austin Kearns became stars under Bowden, and if this isn't a match made in Washington, i don't what is. Adam Dunn and Austin Kearns, part two.

I seriously doubt the Nat's ownership gives Bowden the cash though. Five years of Dunn won't come cheap.

Aaron Harang and his poor 2008

Blame Dusty!

FanGraphs Baseball Harangutan Redux

The outlook might not be bleak, however, as Harang closed the season out quite strongly. Over his final eight starts, he posted a 2.83 ERA, a K/BB above 3.0, an average Game Score of 57, and a much lower OPS against of .733. Perhaps the injury or mechanical flaw dissipated as the final two months of the season rolled around, but Harang definitely performed much better than he did over the summer. In the previous post, I suggested that the Harang of 2005-07 was likely gone, but I have to amend that a bit right now.

Premiership Week 11 Recap: Can't Cover Your Arse?

Premiership viewers were practically spoiled with breathtaking prime
time mid-week football and luckily, as the calendar turned to November,
that suspenseful brilliance carried over to last Saturday's action. Two
eye-popping results in particular sent shockwaves over the Premier
League landscape.

Allen Iverson to Detroit.

wow. who saw this coming.

Last week I said that Carmelo was going to be the 2009 MVP. It may have been some smack talk in a Yahoo league, but it counts all the same right?

SportingNews.com 'Melo the winner in Iverson-for-Billups trade

Both teams, however, have helped themselves. Adding Iverson doesn't make the Pistons better than the Celtics, but he gives Detroit the dynamic scorer it has been lacking. Billups and McDyess aren't going to turn the Nuggets into Western Conference contenders, but they will improve the team's defense and depth. They should go from a borderline eight seed to a solid eight seed.

But the biggest winner of the deal may be Carmelo Anthony. Iverson averaged 19 shots last season, Billups 11.2. Who do you think will get to make up most of that 7.8 shot difference? That's right, look for Anthony to go from 19.2 shots to closer to 25, and his scoring to increase from 25.7 to upwards of 30. He just became the favorite to win the league scoring title, and his team has improved.

worst shortstop in baseball

"Maybe it was a computer glitch," .. Derek Jeter

New York Post NEW YORK YANKEES SHORTSTOP DEREK JETER RANKS 22 IN FIELDING BIBLE VOTING

Derek Jeter's defensive ability took another hit on Bill James' Fielding Bible Web site, where a panel voted him 22nd among major league shortstops in defensive prowess. Ten experts voted on the top 10 at each position in baseball and Jeter got one 10th place vote, officially announced today.

In a Penn University study this February, Jeter, who has won three Gold Gloves, was voted to be the worst shortstop in baseball.

"Maybe it was a computer glitch," Jeter told The Post. "Every [shortstop] doesn't stay in the same spot, everyone doesn't have the same pitching. Everyone doesn't have the same hitters running, it's impossible to do that."

Brewers open bidding for Sabathia

SportingNews.com Brewers open bidding for ace pitcher Sabathia

"It's in their hands," Melvin said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "He hasn't really had a chance to talk with other teams." His new deal could top Johan Santana's $137.5 million, six-year contract with the New York Mets

Padres name hitting, bench coaches

The Brewer exodus continues

padres.com Padres name hitting, bench coaches

"I am excited to welcome Jim Lefebvre and Ted Simmons to our staff," Padres manager Bud Black said in a release. "Their knowledge and experience will help every player on our team, and the familiarity they have with the players and organization as a whole will allow them to smoothly transition into their new roles."

Simmons, 59, served most of this past season as the bench coach in Milwaukee as part of manager Ned Yost's staff. When Yost was dismissed on Sept. 15, Simmons was reassigned to an advisory role with the team.
The Padres were granted permission by Milwaukee Brewers general manager Doug Melvin to talk to Simmons last month, as Simmons' contract with the Brewers expired on Oct. 31

H2HSB California week 9

Well that was just a devastating loss.Yell

When I mentioned last week that my Cal Blaze had peeked, I wasn't kidding when I said they could do no better than a fifth seed. Even worse, now we have ten teams competing for that fifth seed.

Premier League Game week 11

Iguchi & Taguchi back to Japan?

I seriously doubt that Tadahito Iguchi's Major League career is over. Some team will take a chance on his services next season, but So Taguchi, his MLB career may be done.

If I remember correctly, interest was minimal in Tadahito Iguchi's bat last spring, and he ended up taking an offer for one year from San Diego, because prospect Matt Antonelli was not ready, (Antonelli still isn't). Of course the friars paid Tadahito more money than he had ever made, for one season of sitting on the disabled list, and creating
