San Diego Union Tribune Organization exploring trade offers for popular shortstop

The Orioles, Reds and Tigers are among those interested. The Nationals and Padres discussed a Greene trade this past summer, but the Nats aren't in play this time around.

Greene is guaranteed $6.5 million in 2009 and can become a free agent after the season. Keeping free agency open, he turned down a four-year, $29 million offer last off season.

Granderson getting well vs. lefties

I know a couple of owners that soured on Curtis Granderson's talents this season. I figure they looked at the big picture, saw diminished stats based upon him hitting the disabled list early in the season, and then saw Granderson sitting versus lefty's, and figured why bother .. Thats silly.

Scouting Report: Rick Porcello

I just ran across this new blog that came on-line last month, Saber Scouting, and it is reportedly run by a couple of young MLB scouts. Could be kind of cool.

What caught my eye was this scouting report on Rick Porcello's first start .. A very impressive young man.

Granderson will start season on DL

Ah nuts!. two weeks! My guys are falling like flys!

Brandon Inge has has started in center the last couple of days as his replacement, but no word on who will hit lead off.

I am guessing Renteria.

In a wierd sort of way this could be good news for Josh Fields. It means Inge probably won't get traded anytime in the next few weeks, and that Joe Crede might. I know it sounds funny, but there is logic in there somewhere .. I just know it.

Granderson agrees to 5-year deal with Tigers

Curtis Granderson and 2007 NL MVP Jimmy Rollins, joined Willie Mays and Frank Schulte as the only players in major league history with 20 steals, 20 homers, 20 triples and 20 doubles.

Robertson inks three year deal

The Detroit Tigers now have four of their front five starters locked up for the foreseeable future.

Nate Robertson, Dontrelle Willis and Jeremy Bonderman are all locked up through 2010 and Justin Verlander will not be arbitration eligible until after the '08 season.

Nate is the old man of the group ..

American League Bullpens, with Closers

the Sporting News ranks each American League team's bullpen, and projects who should be the closers, and setup.

Rangers acquire Shelton

Two guys who's stock has fallen off the table in recent years. Both Chris Shelton and Freddy Guzman will be 27 next season, and they were both once promising young prospects that struggled at the major league level. Of the two, Chris Shelton should see significantly more at-bats next year and I am guessing Freddy Guzman will be Detroit's 25th man, unless he is on the move in another deal. Which is likely.

On Wednesday night, the team completed a trade with Detroit that sent bypassed outfielder Freddy Guzman to the Tigers for one-time Rangers killer Chris Shelton
