Team Names
We do have a few restrictions on your team name. In order to help build healthy regional competition, and maybe even create some rivalries, your team name must always represent your current home region, state or country.
Example: If you happen to reside in Chicago, your team name would then be the Chicago (whatevers) If you were representing Illinois in one of the National Tournaments, your team name would be the Illinois or USA (whatevers).
City or community names are ok too.
Have some fun with it.
Dummy Teams
If there is a Dummy team setup in your league, it is simply there to provide balance. the dummy team is there to be competitive each and every week; it is not there to compete for the overall prize. There is no trading allowed with the dummy team, and the only transactions the team will make is in case of injuries to the main crew. When this happens I will simply pick from the waiver wire, the highest ranked player at that position as a temporary replacement.
The idea is simply to not have 11-1 wins gifted for some teams, especially the teams that would play it twice during the season. The idea is to have balance to the league, nothing more. It is a Yahoo ranked auto drafted team. The lineups are set by Yahoo rankings and common sense.
As a side note, we did have a dummy team win in 2007. As a matter of fact the team was so dominant we had to bench all of its players in the final weeks against teams with no shot, giving the dummy team a loss 0-12.
We did this in two of the final four weeks and it still went off as the number six seed, and the team ran rough shot through the playoffs.
It was kind of funny to watch.
Dead Teams
You can find the last time somebody checked their team by clicking the managers tab on the front of your Yahoo league page.
Usually if somebody goes six weeks or more, I recommend just locking the team up. They quit on the league is the way I look at it, and we don't want them in our leagues. I also would hate to see somebody come in and drop their team come playoff time. It has happened.
In order to ensure stiff competition for everyone still playing, just set the lineup to the best possible for the moment and forget it. Every few weeks you can check on the lineup and adjust it if necessary, but let's treat it as another Dummy Team
