H2Hoops International - Week 3

Another week in the books and still looking like the haves and the have nots, although a couple of teams did get pushed down a peg.

Andruw Bynum - Buy Low

Los Angeles Times Bynum hopes to block out bigger role

"I really haven't been attacking, so I'm going to start attacking on the block," Bynum said. "Over all the games, I really haven't scored much on the block play." Bynum is fifth on the team in scoring, averaging 9.9 points per game. Last season, before he got injured, Bynum averaged 13.1 points.

He has been a presence on defense, averaging three blocks per game, second-best in the NBA. But his offense has been coming slow. He's getting only 8.25 shots per game.

"I'm just not being aggressive," Bynum said. "I think I need to go out there and be aggressive and assert myself on the block. I don't think I've even scored with a post move yet this season."

Brandon Roy

check out this video. Three potential game winning shots in a row, each one better than the next.

Allen Iverson to Detroit.

wow. who saw this coming.

Last week I said that Carmelo was going to be the 2009 MVP. It may have been some smack talk in a Yahoo league, but it counts all the same right?

SportingNews.com 'Melo the winner in Iverson-for-Billups trade

Both teams, however, have helped themselves. Adding Iverson doesn't make the Pistons better than the Celtics, but he gives Detroit the dynamic scorer it has been lacking. Billups and McDyess aren't going to turn the Nuggets into Western Conference contenders, but they will improve the team's defense and depth. They should go from a borderline eight seed to a solid eight seed.

But the biggest winner of the deal may be Carmelo Anthony. Iverson averaged 19 shots last season, Billups 11.2. Who do you think will get to make up most of that 7.8 shot difference? That's right, look for Anthony to go from 19.2 shots to closer to 25, and his scoring to increase from 25.7 to upwards of 30. He just became the favorite to win the league scoring title, and his team has improved.

Baron Davis hurt again

ouch

Davis was my first round pick, pick 14 in H2H Hoops.

I dont' need this

Showtime; Draft results

Showtime is a private league of mine. The league settings are exactly the same as the H2Hoops leagues, only it has been running for three years now. Chris, London Knights, won last season, his rookie season, go figure, and I won the title in 2007.

I'll get a little write up posted about the league and my draft results a little later.

Lakers will beat Celtics in finals

Take it to the bank!

SportingNews GM poll: Lakers will beat Celtics in NBA finals

The Los Angeles Lakers will avenge their NBA finals loss to the Boston Celtics, according to a survey of the league's general managers. The executives who responded to the NBA.com GM survey also picked Cleveland's LeBron James for the third straight year as the likely MVP. The results of the seventh annual poll were released Wednesday.

The Lakers received 46 percent of the vote, well ahead of the Celtics (19 percent). Boston beat Los Angeles in six games in June for its 17th championship. New Orleans Hornets got 12 percent of the vote and San Antonio 8 percent. It was the first time in five years the GMs didn't tab the Spurs as their preseason pick to win the title.

H2Hoops draft prep .. sleepers

Here is a solid collection of opinion that should help you get prepared for the upcoming basketball draft.

H2H Hoops

Ok, I just sat down and sent out the invites for basketball. It looks like we will be running with two leagues this year. I am still a little short on the overseas teams, but I think we can get two or three more players in once the leagues themselves are all set up .. if you want to play, but didn't get an invite, let me know asap, please.

Basketball registration

Basketball has gotten off to a slow start registration wise. It is early yet, so we still have plenty of time. Admittedly i haven't sent out any emails about the series yet, once i do i expect it to start filling. How about if we do this in the short term though.
